GEDA-Uganda has been running a number of consultancies for different institutions and our very own projects.
Project Title:“Creating mass awareness to mitigate and respond to VAC and GBV during Covid-19 Lock down in Kasese District, Western Uganda”.
This project focuses on creating mass awareness on Violence Against Children (VAC) and Gender Based Violence (GBV) through radio talk shows on the above subject matter, radio drama series, road drives among others.
The objectives of this project are;
- To create awareness of the communities on child safe guarding and Gender Based Violence in terms, prevention, response and management in the COVID-19 lock down period.
- To sensitize children, women, girls, care givers and parents on the triggers of Violence Against Children in the COVID-19 lock down period.
- To engage the duty bearers and leaders at district level to efficiently and effectively respond to Violence against children and Gender Based Violence during and post COVID-19 Lock down period
- To sensitize the communities especially children, women, girls and other vulnerable groups in utilizing the Early Warning System for Child safe guarding, GBV case management and referral.
- To participate in the online platforms/dialogues for experience sharing, reflection and learning on COVID-19 pandemic in order to inform our local actions on GBV prevention and management.
Feasibility study and rapid needs assessment of potential new districts for Strong Minds Uganda (SMU) expansion whose results were to enable SMU to reach a decision on the final two Districts through the deliberate use of evidence that was gathered through the study. The project was done in nine Districts of Uganda and later zeroed down to two Districts. (2019-2020)
Needs assessment after the May 2020 floods in Kasese District. A number of issues came up and GEDA Uganda swang in action with whatever they could to support women and girls in camps with sanitary pads.
Training of women and girls in the construction of heat rentention baskets to reduce on the fuel energy consumption in Kasese District and training in the kitchen gardening model to deal with nutrition challenges given the fact that Rwenzori region is a basket of food but with high malnutrition and stunted children under 5 years.
